On November 20, 2024 the First Lady of the Republic of Serbia Mrs. Tamara Vučić, at the invitation of O. Zelenska, the First Lady of Ukraine, and in the organization of the Embassy of Ukraine to the Holy See, participated at the events on November 20th marking the thousandth day of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict. The program included attendance at the general audience in the Vatican and greeting Pope Francis, a visit to the Vatican hospital "Bambino Gesu", a meeting with the First Lady of Italy and a solemn mass in the church of Santa Maria in Trastevere. The general audience was held in the St. Peter's square in the Vatican, and the pope personally greeted all the First Ladies individually. Laura Mattarella, the First Lady of Italy, hosted the first ladies in the Presidential palace Quirinale. The solemn mass at the Basilica of Santa Maria in Trastevere was led by H. E. Cardinal Matteo Zuppi, President of the Italian Bishops' Conference and the Pope's personal envoy for negotiations between the Russian and Ukrainian sides on humanitarian issues.
