On June 6, 2023 the Sistine Chapel Choir (Coro della Cappella Musicale Pontificia Sistina) took part at the International Choir Festival ”Musical Edict” in the city of Niš, famed as the birthplace of Roman Emperor Constantine the Great. The complete Choir constituted of 24 professional male singers and 30 boys had a performance of about 45 minutes in the Holy Trinity Cathedral in Niš, conducted by its Director Marcos Pavan. Established in the 15th century, the Sistine Chapel Choir is the oldest existing choir among the Christians. Serbia is the second Orthodox country to host the Sistine Chapel Choir after Russia. This extraordinary musical event was attended by Bishop Arsenije of Niš as a host, Archbishop of Belgrade Mons. Ladislav Laslo Nemet, ambassador of the Republic of Serbia to the Holy See Sima Avramović, Vicar General of the Archdiocese of Belgrade Rev. Robert Pastyik, Mayor of Niš Mrs. Dragana Sotirovski and other distinguished guests.
